Ebru is the Ottoman craft of marbling — earth pigments floated on a gum-tragacanth bath, coaxed into veins with horsehair brushes and combs, then lifted onto paper. This system reads the art at its saturated trough value, not the pale sheet it prints onto.
The field is a deep indigo-slate size bath. Indigo and zırnık-yellow veins swirl through it, threaded with red-ochre and malachite green. Nothing repeats; nothing sits on a hard grid. Colour behaves like liquid.
