Obsidian Volcanic Glass

ProMax

Obsidian Volcanic Glass takes its discipline from itztli — the jet-black volcanic glass the Aztecs ground into scrying mirrors for Tezcatlipoca and knapped into the razor edges of the macuahuitl. The surface is mirror-dark and vitreous, with a faint golden-green sheen that magnetite nanoparticles throw back at the light. It is a monochrome system of carved-stone gravitas and edged precision: near-black grounds, conchoidal-fracture facets, thin metallic edge highlights, and inscriptional Roman capitals that read like text cut into a stela. Nothing is gilded — the golds are muted, the luster does the work.
