NZ Lord of the Rings Tourism

Born when Peter Jackson's Fellowship landed in 2001 and cemented by Hobbiton's permanent rebuild in 2012, this system fuses Tourism New Zealand's "100% Pure" destination identity with Weta Workshop's fantasy art direction. The result is sweeping landscape photography in the government-tourism register, lightly ornamented with Elvish-inspired typographic flourishes.

Shire-green rolling hills anchor the palette, One-Ring gold provides the accent, and humanist book-typography (Cormorant Garamond, EB Garamond, Cinzel) gives every surface the weight of a Tolkien first-edition colophon. The feel is epic yet approachable — a south-facing Matamata hillside on a March afternoon.
