Northern Soul Wigan (1970)

ProMax

Northern Soul is the obsessive late-night dancefloor culture that emerged in the working-class towns of Northern England during the 1970s, powered by rare 7-inch soul records from 1960s Detroit, Chicago, and New Jersey. Its visual language — monochrome poster art, the clenched-fist emblem, chunky display type, and reverent vinyl-label reproductions — carries the urgency of an underground scene that found beauty in what the mainstream discarded.

This design system channels the raw energy of a Wigan Casino all-nighter: black ground like a 4am dancefloor, offset block shadows like screen-printed posters, and a restrained palette of fist-red and soul-tan against deep black. Every element says "Keep the Faith."
