Mother-of-Pearl Nacre

ProMax

Nacre — mother-of-pearl — is the iridescent inner lining of oyster and abalone shells, layered by nature into a surface that bends light. Its body is a soft pearl white, but its signature is thin-film interference: a shimmer that slides through pale pink, blue, green and violet over a cool blue-gray sheen.

This system takes that living material as a brand. The ground is the nacre-blue sheen — never cream, never plain white — while pearl-white carries the forms and the interference tints color the edges. Type is high-contrast display serif, the register of jewelry and the decorative arts.
