Persian Isfahan Carpet captures the peak of Safavid royal weaving — a central diamond medallion radiating sixteen pendants, quartered corner spandrels, and twelve border-bands of palmette-arabesque scrollwork at 800 knots per inch. The Ardabil Carpet at the V&A is its canonical voice.
This system speaks in saturated natural-dye jewel-tones bounded by cream-ivory hairline scrollwork. Deep midnight-blue grounds carry golden-saffron medallions, emerald-jade scrollwork, and crimson cartouches. Symmetry is strict; density is horror-vacui; every surface is a calligraphic garden.
