Miami's South Beach was built in pale Streamline Moderne in the 1930s, then faded for decades until colorist Leonard Horowitz and Barbara Baer Capitman's Miami Design Preservation League repainted it in the late 1970s. Their "Deco Dazzle" scheme kept bodies pale and picked out eyebrows, trim and reliefs in tropical pastels.
This is that recoloring as a design language: soft mint-stucco grounds, aqua and flamingo trim, peach and pale-yellow accents, neon-tube glow. Optimistic, airy and oceanfront — never noir, never gilded.
