Marbled Endpaper

ProMax

Marbled Endpaper is built from the inked, decorated face of a fine antique book leaf — not the blank rag base, but the saturated peacock-teal size that carries the pattern. Pigments float on a thickened gum-tragacanth bath, are drawn into combed "eyes" and feathered nonpareil swirls, then lifted onto paper.

The palette is mineral and matte: deep peacock teal ground, a brighter teal-blue current, crimson vermilion, antique gold veining, and a single light combed highlight. Type is hand-bound and humanist — Cormorant and EB Garamond for Latin, Noto Serif JP honoring the suminagashi lineage. Everything flows; nothing is gridded, neon, or flat.
