Linear is a project-management tool that became the design benchmark for "dev-tool aesthetic" in 2024. Founded by former Airbnb design-system lead Karri Saarinen and engineer Tuomas Artman, its interface pairs a near-black background with restrained indigo-violet accents, Inter Display typography, and animations timed to the millisecond.

The result is an interface of extreme precision — no decoration, no gradients on UI surfaces, no wasted pixels. Linear proved that density and elegance are not opposing forces, and its visual language has been widely imitated across the SaaS landscape.
