About Light and Space
In 1960s Los Angeles a group of artists stopped making objects and started tuning rooms. James Turrell painted walls white, rounded away the corners and filled the space with light until the walls vanished into colour. Robert Irwin stretched a scrim across a white gallery and let one black line hold it.
This system works the same way. Pages are white. Colour arrives as wide, soft-edged fields that drift slowly from violet to dusk pink to sunset orange. Garamond titles sit in the middle of a lot of empty space. The only hard mark is a thin black rule.
