Land Rover Defender

Born on a Welsh beach in 1948 as a stopgap farm tool, the Land Rover became the template for a half-century of go-anywhere utility design. Its identity is literal hardware: bronze-green aluminium body panels, exposed rivet rows, brushed-alloy fittings and stencilled data-plate lettering.

This system treats the screen like a riveted body panel. Boxy rectilinear frames, grid-aligned coordinate overlays and brass instrument accents replace decoration with function. Nothing is rounded, nothing is luxurious — every element reads as a tool built to survive a desert crossing.
