Almaty's metro was under construction for twenty-three years before its first train ran in 2011. What opened was not a transit utility but a commissioned programme: each station got its own colour, its own lighting, its own ornament. Baikonur reads as a spaceship interior in blue and white; Rayimbek Batyr runs gold; Zhibek Zholy carries four ceramic mosaic panels of the Silk Road.
This system takes that vocabulary literally. Dark polished granite is the page. Turquoise kök and flag gold carry the ornament line. Travertine and beige-brown marble appear as inset medallions and hairline rules — accent stone, never the ground. Geometry is koshkar-muyiz spiral, running meander, barrel-vault arc.
