About Kaj Franck Teema
A tableware system built from three shapes and a box of glazes. Kaj Franck stripped the dinner service down to circle, square and triangle at Arabia in 1952, then Iittala relaunched the same geometry as Teema in 1981 and kept adding colours for four decades.
The interface follows the shelf: a cool white ground, hard-edged silhouettes, flat filled buttons and rows of solid glaze discs. Each object carries one colour, and the range only makes sense when the colours are mixed.
