Jewad Selim Baghdad Modern

In 1951 the sculptor Jewad Selim founded the Baghdad Modern Art Group around the credo *istilham al-turath* — drawing inspiration from heritage. His Freedom Monument on Tahrir Square fuses Sumerian relief with European modernism: 14 bronze castings of 25 figures on a raised travertine slab, read right-to-left like Arabic.

This design system distills that monument into screen language — deep aged-bronze and earth-brown grounds, incised Kufi line, turquoise accents on cast metal, and the narrative cadence of bas-relief that flows from right to left.

1951 年，雕塑家贾瓦德·萨利姆（Jewad Selim）在巴格达创立现代艺术组，奉行"从传统中汲取灵感"（istilham al-turath）的信条。他为解放广场创作的《自由纪念碑》将苏美尔浮雕与欧洲现代主义熔于一炉：14 块青铜浇铸、25 个人物，立于抬高的石灰华板上，如阿拉伯文一般自右向左展读，纪念 1958 年革命。

本设计系统将这座纪念碑转化为数字语言——深沉的古铜与大地棕底色、镌刻般的库菲线条、铸铜之上的绿松石点缀，以及浮雕叙事自右向左流淌的节奏。它属于美索不达米亚的大地：青铜、赤陶、赭石与绿松石，绝不使用米白或纯白。
