Jamaican Dancehall 1990 Poster

ProMax

Between 1985 and 1995, Kingston's dancehall scene exploded onto every light pole and zinc fence in the city through hand-printed fluorescent posters. Sign painters and screenprinters like Jeff Cassell and Sangie Burchell created urgent three-colour flyers on cheap newsprint — acid greens, hot pinks, and electric blues screaming event details in heavy wedge-serif type.

This design system captures that raw energy: photocopy-degraded headshots, halftone dot textures, deliberately wonky stacked typography, and hard-shadow components that feel stapled to a Half Way Tree telephone pole at midnight.
