Jain Cosmology

ProMax

Jain Cosmology draws on the Lokapurusha — the Cosmic Man of Svetambara Jain manuscript and cloth painting, whose hourglass body maps every realm of the universe in stacked, color-coded bands. It is opaque gouache laid over the vivid vermilion ground of Gujarat and Rajasthan, an ascetic metaphysics turned into geometry.

Hard black outlines, flat saturated fills, and gold Devanagari caption bands give the system its voice. Nothing is washed or atmospheric; every region of the cosmos is named, bounded, and weighed. The result reads as both diagram and devotional object.
