About Noguchi Akari
Akari is the paper lamp Isamu Noguchi began with the Ozeki workshop in Gifu in 1951: unbleached mulberry washi stretched over bamboo ribs, collapsible into a flat box, sold by number rather than name. This system takes its page from that paper and its voice from the catalogue.
Warm grey print tones, an amber glow held behind one layer of paper, and the violet-indigo ink of Müller-Brockmann's 1975 poster sit on a strict Swiss grid. One object per cell, a number and a height beneath it, nothing else.
