About Icelandic Lopapeysa
The lopapeysa is knitted in the round from lopi — unspun Icelandic fleece — and carries a single circular band of geometry across the shoulders. Its palette is the sheep rather than a dye book: white, three greys, oatmeal, acorn brown, near-black, each a real Ístex shade number.
The system takes that structure literally. A wide plain field of heathered grey, one concentrated ornamental band, ribbed edges at the seams. Every motif steps on the stitch grid; nothing curves. Nothing here is medieval — the garment is mid-century, and the design reads that way.
