High Life (2018)

High Life is Claire Denis's 2018 deep-space film, its look shaped by installation artist Olafur Eliasson. A matte-black, boxy prison ship drifts toward a black hole, its near-pitch interiors and no-frills set design holding a single glowing, lush green hydroponic garden inside.

The design system distills that contrast: institutional teal darkness against living green, with one invented terracotta-orange light bleeding into a single zone. Severe, boxed, stripped to essentials — black negative space is the dominant material.
