Abebuu adekai — "boxes with proverbs." Since the 1950s the Kane Kwei workshop in Teshie has built coffins shaped like the life inside them: a boat for a fisherman, a cocoa pod for a farmer, an aeroplane for a woman who liked to watch them land.
They are pieced from wawa timber like furniture, then handed to sign painters who finish them in industrial enamel — flat opaque fields, 2–4px black keylines, one hard specular sliver, no shading. This system paints screens the same way.
