Spencerian Penmanship

ProMax

Spencerian script is the lyrical, copperplate-derived business hand taught across America from roughly 1850 to 1925 — light, slanted, flourished letterforms laid down in iron-gall blue-black ink. This system grounds the look in a real period diary: oxidized blue-black ink on aged 19th-century laid journal paper.

Hairline up-strokes swell into shaded down-strokes, exuberant capital ovals trail into flourishes, and the dry-stroke flicks (飞白) of a fast steel nib catch on the laid grain. The ground is never cream — it is the warm tobacco-tan of darkened ledger stock.
