Victorian Cast Iron Foundry

ProMax

Victorian cast iron is the metal of the steam age dressed for the parlour — radiators, railings, stove fronts and the great ribbed span of the Crystal Palace, all finished in dense japan-black paint over gray-black castings. It is dark, heavy and ornate, a language of cast scrollwork, riveted plate and raised foundry badges. Here that material becomes an interface: charred-iron grounds, fluted iron borders, rust-brown patina and the cool steel glint of polished rivets. Nothing is flat — every surface reads as forged, cast and slowly oxidizing.
