About Europa Ice Drill Station
Everything human on Europa lives under the ice. The surface takes roughly 5400 mSv a day — lethal inside one — so the station is a string of modules cut into a hot-water borehole, and the only view is the bore wall itself.
Deep compressed ice reads blue because the O–H stretch overtone absorbs the red end of the spectrum. That one fact sets the whole palette: a blue-lit column, ice-face cyan on the instruments, radiation red reserved for shielding, and a single warm salt-brown from the lineae.
