Dune Arrakis (Villeneuve)

Denis Villeneuve's Dune (2021/2024) is the canonical modern sci-fi cinematic moment — warm Arrakis sand-ochre, saturated spice-blue, monumental Atreides brutalism, and Patrice Vermette's vast scaleless interiors photographed by Greig Fraser. The visual language refuses ornament: enormous flat planes of sand, deep navy shadow, and letter-spaced sans-serif type that reads like architecture.

As a UI, it is restrained almost to silence. One ochre note, one spice-blue alarm, and a great deal of dark room around them. Every element behaves like a Vermette set piece — heavy, monumental, perfectly aligned, lit from one direction only.
