Cathay Brushwing

When Landor Associates unveiled Cathay Pacific's "brushwing" in November 1994, they distilled a flag carrier into a single gesture: one fluid calligraphic stroke that reads at once as a bird's wing and a sweep of Chinese brush ink. Rendered white on a deep jade-green tailfin, it announced a Hong Kong airline fluent in both East and West.

The system pairs that organic stroke with disciplined editorial structure — generous jade fields, reversed white type, an occasional red livery stripe. Brush energy meets the grid; nothing competes with the wing.

1994 年 11 月，Landor 为国泰航空设计的「翼」标志问世，把一家旗舰航司浓缩成一笔：一道流畅的书法笔触，既是飞鸟之翼，又是中国水墨的一挥。白色笔锋落在深翡翠绿的尾翼上，宣告着这家香港航司贯通东西的气质。

这套系统把那一笔的灵动安放在克制的编辑式结构里——大面积的翡翠绿底、反白的字、偶尔一道红色涂装条纹。笔墨的呼吸遇上严谨的网格，谁也不与那只翼争辉。东方的笔意、西方的版面，互为表里。
