Bianco Carrara is the cool grayish-white statuary marble quarried from the Apuan Alps above Carrara — the stone Michelangelo chose for the David and the Pietà. Its surface reads as a calm, polished plane of stone-white, faintly gray rather than chalk or cream, threaded with fine feathery veins that drift from soft gray into blue-gray.
As a design register it is sculptural and classical: the marble white is the ground, the veining is the signature, and headings stand in Roman inscriptional capitals as if cut into stone. Shadows are soft and carved, proportion is symmetrical, and nothing is loud — the luxury is in restraint and stone.
