Cargo Collective is the invite-only portfolio platform that became the unofficial visual canon of freelance design. Founded in 2007 by Folkert Gorter and Adam Spektor, its templates are defined by what they remove — no chrome, no decoration, no personality beyond the work itself.
The result is a design language of full-bleed imagery, monospace metadata, hairline rules, and generous whitespace. Typography does the structural work: tight-tracked sans for names, mono for project details, and nothing else competing for attention.
