About Arequipa White City
A design system cut from sillar, the pale volcanic tuff that built Arequipa. The page is sunlit stone, a chalky neutral grey, and the primary colour is not a pigment but the shadow that sits inside deep relief carving. Contrast comes from depth, not from ink.
Layouts are framed like portadas: thick walls, pilasters either side, an entablature above, small deep-set openings. Red-ochre and indigo appear only as painted wall panels, the way they do inside Santa Catalina, never as full-page fields.
