Antarctic stations are built out of sealed composite panels, and their colours are specified for reasons that have nothing to do with taste. The Discovery Building at Rothera is clad in UV-stable sky-blue steel; Halley VI's science modules are blue and its single social module is red, prescribed against seasonal affective disorder.
This system takes that literally. Pale blue is the page, not a tint of white. Modules are coded by colour block. Signal yellow appears only where something can hurt you. The grid is the panel joint, and the shadow is a seam.
