Emirati Burj Khalifa Sapphire (2010)

ProMax

Burj Khalifa rose from the Dubai desert in 2010 as an 828-meter sapphire shard — the world's tallest structure, designed by SOM's Adrian Smith on a tripartite Y-plan abstracted from the Hymenocallis flower. Its curtain wall reads cobalt-to-steel at dusk while the Dubai Fountain throws aged-gold LED light across the lake below.

This design system captures the view from the observation deck at blue hour: deep sapphire glass, steel-blue sky, jet-black night, and gold refractions. Typography pairs luxury serif display with clean software-product body text, and every surface carries the precision of parametric engineering.
