About Herat Friday Mosque Tile
The Great Mosque of Herat wears its history on its surface. A Ghurid brick foundation of 1200 was refaced under Shah Rukh in cut-tile mosaic — cobalt fields, turquoise stars, white script — and has been kept in repair ever since by a workshop on the site itself.
This system builds from that facade. Cobalt is the ground, turquoise carries the pattern, tile white rules the outlines and the inscription bands. Corners stay sharp because the tiles are cut, and every panel shows its joints.
