About Wallpaper* Architecture
Wallpaper* is the British architecture-and-design magazine founded in 1996 by Tyler Brûlé that defined what "international design lifestyle" looks like in print and digital. Its visual language is built on gallery-white pages, photography-led layouts, and ultra-restrained sans-serif typography — a relentless insistence that architecture and product photography do the speaking.
The Wallpaper* aesthetic became the foundational reference for every "international design quarterly" that followed. Massive whitespace, a single typeface used throughout, minimal labelling, and an architectural approach to composition where imagery occupies the vast majority of the page — copied by countless lifestyle and luxury publications worldwide.
