Tongan Ngatu (Tapa)

Ngatu is the monumental beaten-bark cloth of Tonga — sheets stretching thirty metres long, produced by women's collectives who pound paper mulberry fibre and rub soot-black and mangrove-brown pigment over carved kupesi stencil tablets. This design system channels that workshop-floor materiality: warm umber grounds, strict horizontal banding, and hand-rubbed motif edges that never resolve into vector perfection.

The visual rhythm follows the langanga grid — alternating pigment bands carrying manulua birds, tokelau feletoa stars, and fata chevrons. Every surface feels fibrous, every border feels stamped, and compositions always run long rather than square, honouring the tradition that longer cloth carries heavier honour.

恩加图是汤加王国的巨幅树皮布——由妇女集体捶打纸桑树皮、再以烟灰和红树皮颜料在木刻库佩西模板上拓印而成，最长可达三十米。这套设计体系将工坊地面的质感搬上屏幕：温暖的赭色纤维底色、严格的水平条带节奏、以及永远带着手工拓印不均匀边缘的图案。

视觉节奏遵循"朗安加"网格——交替的色带承载着双鸟纹、八角星纹和人字形椽纹。每一个界面都带有纤维质感，每一条边框都像木刻印章，构图永远横向延展而非居中方正，致敬"布越长、礼越重"的汤加传统。
