Super Mario Bros (1985)

Free

Super Mario Bros. is the 1985 NES cartridge rebuilt as a design system: every element is a 16×16 tile snapped to a hard grid, drawn in a palette the console could actually render, outlined in pure black, and floated against that saturated sky blue.

There is no anti-aliasing, no gradient, no soft edge — just chunky pixels you can count and a four-color-per-sprite discipline. Mario red, Luigi green, coin gold, and cloud white do an astonishing amount of work. It reads like a paused frame of World 1-1.
