UV Scorpion Glow

ProMax

Hold a scorpion under ultraviolet light and it blazes an eerie cyan-green. Beta-carboline and 7-hydroxy-4-methylcoumarin trapped in the cuticle's hyaline layer absorb UV at 350–400 nm and re-emit cold light against desert-night black.

UV Scorpion Glow distills that phenomenon into a naturalist field-guide plate: engraving-era serif annotation, leader lines and captions framing a single fluorescing specimen. The page is night, never paper — and the only light is the exoskeleton's spectral halo.
