Regency England

The Regency was Britain's brief decade of Neoclassical poise — Jane Austen's drawing rooms, the long Napoleonic peace, and a taste schooled by Wedgwood's pale antique grounds. Its signature surface is not the cream muslin of an empire gown but the soft duck-egg plaster wall behind it: a calm, restrained classicism of blue-green, stone, and serifed printed type. Symmetry, slender rules, and quiet letter-spacing carry the voice, never ornament for its own sake.
