Leica M Black Paint

ProMax

The black-paint Leica M is a camera finished in deep matte black enamel laid directly over bare brass. It is prized because it *brasses* — years of use rub the lacquer off the corners and edges, exposing warm golden brass beneath, while the LEICA and ERNST LEITZ WETZLAR engravings stay crisp in white enamel infill.

This system distills that object into an interface: a jet-black ground, brass exposed only at worn edges as the signature highlight, white-incised labels, and the Leica red dot held back as a single precise accent — never a fill.
