About Khakas Shaman Drum
A *tüür* is a single-headed drum: hide laced onto an aspen frame, willow hoops inside, a larch grip cut behind the head, an iron beam hung with pendants. The membrane is smoke-greyed tan, and painted onto it in black, red and brown is a cosmology — a border reading as the Milky Way, and a line that cuts the head into sky, middle world and underworld.
This system takes that head as its page. One horizontal band carries the whole hierarchy; figures sit flat and frontal on either side of it, leaning, unequal, unevenly spaced. The hide shows through everywhere. Nothing is centred for the sake of being centred.
