About Hundertwasser House
A municipal housing block in Vienna's third district, over-painted between 1983 and 1985 so that patches of ochre, ultramarine, rose and terracotta sit on top of a rough pale lime render — in places shredded back so the plain wall returns. A thousand windows, no two alike, in dark red-brown frames.
This system takes the render as its page and the paint as its color. Nothing repeats: tiles are uneven, baselines undulate, 250 planted trees make foliage green the primary.
