Grime London Pirate Radio (2003)

Grime erupted from East London's council estate tower blocks in 2002 — MCs spitting over 140bpm beats broadcast illegally from rooftop aerials across Bow and Hackney. The visual identity crystallised with Dizzee Rascal's *Boy in da Corner* sleeve: a hooded figure shot dead-on against pure saturated yellow, designed by Tom Hingston Studio. This design system channels that raw, lo-fi broadcast energy — pirate frequency stickers, photocopied rave flyers, FruityLoops studio screens, and the unapologetic flatness of a Nokia 6610 display.

Everything is loud, direct, and signal-strong. Dizzee yellow punches through pirate-radio black. Headlines scream in condensed uppercase. Monospace numerals recall FM frequency markings and Roland drum-machine readouts. There is no polish — only transmission.
