Gorodets painting is a brisk decorative folk style from the Volga village of Gorodets, first painted on carved distaffs, then on panels, chests and furniture. On a deep dark-blue stained-wood ground it sets prancing blue horses and riders, symmetrical kupavka and rozan roses, and leafy sprays.
The look is built from confident broad underpainting, black graphic outlining (tenevka), and crisp white "ozhivka" highlight dots that enliven every petal. Nothing is slick or gradient-smooth — the hand-brushed stroke and visible wood grain are the point.
