Mycelium Network is a design system drawn from the dark-field scans of mycorrhizal fungal networks — the glowing, branching filaments that ferry nutrients between trees beneath the forest floor. AMOLF researcher Loreto Oyarte Gálvez mapped these living "trade routes" in 2024, rendering fractal hyphae as luminous threads against near-black earth.
Though natural mycelium is whitish-cream, this theme deliberately takes the dark-soil scan as its ground: glowing soil-amber filaments, recursive branching topology, and a faint symbiosis-green pulse. It pairs a modern data-viz sans with mono node labels to read like a live network map, not a nature photograph.
