Chillwave Tumblr captures the late-2009 to 2012 internet aesthetic of sun-bleached pastels, faded Polaroid borders, and lo-fi cassette warmth. Coined by blogger Carles at Hipster Runoff, the genre married dreamy synth-pop with an overexposed, VHS-tinted visual language that dominated Tumblr reblog feeds.

This design system distills that hazy-romantic mood into usable tokens — cream backgrounds, washed peach and pink palettes, light-leak gradients, and romantic serif headlines that feel like handwritten postcards from a summer that never quite happened.
