About Chilean Lapis Lazuli
Chile is one of only two commercial sources of lapis lazuli on earth, and the stone is its national stone. This system takes its cues from a polished slab out of the Flor de los Andes deposit above Ovalle, cut at 3,500 metres and bezel-set in hand-raised sterling in a Santiago taller.
Chilean material carries more calcite and less pyrite than Afghan lapis, so it reads clearer: a deep ultramarine body interrupted by white rivers, with gold flecks placed sparingly. The interface follows the same rule — regular silver settings, irregular stone inside them.
