About Marimonda Mask
The marimonda was cut from a sack by people who could not afford a costume and wanted to laugh at people who could. A hood of bright polyester cloth, two padded eye holes, elephant ears, and a long floppy nose sewn on in whatever colour was left over.
Worn with a white shirt, a waistcoat, two ties — one hanging down the back — trousers on backwards, and a rubber whistle. Everything inside-out on purpose. This is a design system built the same way: loud daylight cloth, stitched edges, nothing quite level.
