About Tokaj Aszú Label
Tokaji aszú is graded by the hod. Botrytised berries are picked one by one, tipped by the 25 kg puttony into a 136-litre Gönci barrel, and the count — three to six — is printed larger than anything else on the paper. Surviving 1910 labels from Tokaj-Hegyalja set the house style: a crowned coat of arms, ochre-gold rules, oxblood display lettering, a red seal, Hungarian in wide caps.
This system reads that label as a layout grammar. A double-rule frame inset from the trim, a strict centred axis, horizontal rules dividing every register, and one large numeral carrying the weight. Gold is flat printed ochre, never foil. The ground is the aged stock itself.
