Quebec Clarence Gagnon Folk Naïf

ProMax

A design system rooted in Clarence Gagnon's pochoir illustrations for the 1933 deluxe Maria Chapdelaine — flat stencil-cut color fields of barn red, smoke-blue mountain shadow, and moss-green pine against snow-bright white. The aesthetic channels early-20th-century Québécois folk narrative: picture-book compositions, hand-set serif typography, and the quiet bite of a Charlevoix winter.

Every surface carries the cool luminosity of snow under overcast sky. Components feel like illustrated story-page panels — warm in spirit but never saccharine, grounded in the regionalist painting tradition of Baie-Saint-Paul.
