About Lucknow Chikankari
Chikankari is embroidery you cannot see head-on. White cotton thread worked on bleached muslin gives the same colour to ground and figure, so a motif exists only as raised nap, slight translucency, and the shadow it throws. Roughly thirty-two named stitches do the work of a palette.
This system takes that constraint literally. There is no hue event anywhere — the whole range from page to deepest text is one ladder of light. Depth comes from soft, wide, cloth-cast diffusion, never from crisp UI elevation. The empty muslin between motifs is not leftover space; it is the composition.
