Dragon Ball (1984) is the world Akira Toriyama inked for Weekly Shōnen Jump before the franchise went all-glowing-blond: a monkey-tailed kid chasing seven amber wish-orbs across a desert of mushroom mecha and dinosaur bandits. This is the original manga look — heavy black keylines, burnt training-gi orange against pale open sky, and screen-tone halftone shading straight off a chapter splash page.
Toriyama came out of car-design school and it shows. Everything reads with mechanical clarity: rounded and toy-like, but drawn with an engineer's line weight. The idiom says a fistfight can be funny, a gadget can be gorgeous, and the whole planet fits inside a Capsule.
