On 19 July 2013 the Cassini spacecraft turned its cameras back toward the Sun and assembled the "Day the Earth Smiled" mosaic — Saturn in true, documented color, a golden butterscotch world ringed in brown and tan, suspended in the pitch-black void of the outer solar system. This system distills that single frame: dominant black negative space, a warm cloud-lit disc, fine ring striations, and the quiet technical captioning of a probe reporting home from a billion kilometers away.
